Did you try installing the in-series plugin to see where it adds its widget in the sidebar on the write page?

That is where it should go.

It is no more complicated for a new user than having to memorize a code to insert.

It would also take up very little space.

It would inform the user of its purpose by its options say simply:

you see the little box like for other plugins to the lower right... the title would be "CRE Extension" The default option would be "Enable in Post" (no interaction needed) The other option would be "Disable in Post"

much simpler than having to remember the code and easy to understand and unobtrusive....

Of course you can also keep the disable code. There is no reason for it to be one or the other.

I stared at my “Write Page” page for a few minutes, and I’m afraid I still can’t see how or where I would put something that would accomplish these goals:

(1) be easy to spot for a first-time user (2) inform the first-time user about its purpose and functionality immediately and solely by its appearance (3) have smooth interaction for veteran users (4) not take up too much screen real estate, or be invasive or obtrusive

Perhaps you could tell me how you would imagine it? (Or, better yet, show a graphic mockup or screenshot.)

Just to clarify, both of the plugins I mention take up only a little space in the column on the write page under the ‘categories menu’

check out the in-series plugin it uses a side menu.. Perhaps you could be inspired by its code. The Popshops plugin also has a menu... You could have something simpler with a default on and the option to turn it off for the post.

I don't need a custom version for this... You could always have both.

Christopher: I could probably whip up a custom solution just for you. The actual implementation is not a lot of work, my only concern is how I could put a toggler widget on the post screen without it sticking out or using too much real estate.

I use the CCC now and again as an official reference to describe official Church teaching or doctrine or such. If you google around, you can find sites that serve searchable copies of the Catechism to help you find the paragraphs that are related to a certain topic you might be posting about.

In the case of posts with Christian related products, it doesn’t make sense for the popup to appear. I added the [nocathref] in my post content and the popup did not appear.

Thank you again. Now that I have a good plugin (yours) I can start my bible study posts, and of course the song lyrics benefit as they do now.

I can’t think of any other improvements apart from adding other bibles.

How do you recommend adding the Catechism text to a site. I’ve never used the CCC before so I’m not sure what kind of posts I should add it to.
